ID3KILL is no longer.
The ID3KILL project has been cancelled for now. By the time I wrote it, there were no good removal tools for ID3 tags available. Today, I see no reason to continue and I don't have the time to maintain and update ID3KILL as much as I'd want to. I will eventually release a revised version with a few updated functions, but basically ID3KILL will stay like it is now. If you still want to use ID3KILL, you can download the latest version 1.4 here. Make sure that you have a few megabytes of free space on the drive you're using!
One of my favorite tag removal programs is Tag, a free, open-source solution. Its features are:
- View tags
- Generate tags from filenames
- Modify tag values manually
- Tag files with information read from CDDB files
- Copy tags from one file to another
- Convert tags to different format
- Remove tags
- Rename files based on tag information
- Move files to directories generated from tag values
- Generate Winamp playlists (optionally with AlbumList extensions and playing times)
- Generate text files with information about tracks and album (format customizable)
- Decode files and name output using tag information
- Test mode that shows what would happen without actually doing anything to files
It not only supports ID3v1 and ID3v2 like ID3KILL does, but also APE v1.0, APE v2.0, Vorbis comments, FLAC tags and Lyrics3 v2.0.
